    Arizona Tartan

Red_Raven_Studios and I have decided to do the Arizona State Tartan for our next weaving project (and first kilt project). However, we need to find the sett for the tartans? Does anyone have the sett, or know where we can get it?

ChromeScholar the STA has that tartan listed, so I am sure that Matt Newsome or one of the other rabble that is a member of them can get that info for you. Try pming Matt.

I'm a little slow about these things. Good luck, I love that you're weaving.

We have to widen the loom first, but we've got that planned out. We just have to pick up the wood we need.

Hope all goes well with the widening. I'm working out the designs on building my own loom. Probably wouldn't be doing twill weave though. I'm more into the rug weaving.

Ya, you're right Red_Raven_Studios. I think I will build in to the loom ways to expand the loom without too much trouble. Enterchangeable parts that are also off the shelf parts from... the home inproovement store. At least I have a drill press now and other tools to build these things.
I am quietly wondering if some of the older Navajo blanket paternss could be adapted to a twill weave and shhhh, a belted plaid. I'm like way into blanket wearing in the winter.
Good luck with your project and your weaving.

    Very cool!

If you're ever down in the Valley & want to see the Arizona tartan "in-the-wool" for comparison, I've got a kilt in the Arizona tartan made by Mr. Newsome. I think it's a great looking tartan & very well suited to the colors of the Grand Canyon state.

I hope to see what you two weave, sometime. All the best!

Now, I've seen the pictures of what you have, and it doesn't seem to match the picture of the tartan at the Scottish Tartan Authority. The black stripe in your kilt seems to be much wider than what is shown at STA.
