Calling DFW Kilted!
Do I have to plan ALL the DFW KILT Nights?
Well, it IS nice to be good at something (when I find out what it is, I'll let you know)....
So....we can celebrate Burns Night or Mardi Gras or both somewhere at sometime.....any suggestions??
Don't forget the North Texas Irish Festival is at a different time this year, so plan accordingly so you can be there....

Good to see you back RR. How were your Holidays? Did you make it to Edinburgh?

Argghhhhh~!!! I SO wanted to go up to Scotland, knowing it was so darned close! But I just didn't have time and then I got sick...but I DID have a date with a Scotsman for New Year's Eve!! so, even though the trip was to England, I managed to get a little sideways of the Scots!
Thanx for asking!

If anyone feels adventurous we can meet at the Gaylord Texan after my show either Friday (Burns birthday) or Saturday. What say? 10:PM at the Texan station on Friday? The evening will just be getting started!

Well, shoot!
Our Scottish Country Dancers are having a Burns Night on our regular dance night, Friday...in Grand Prairie...not sure I can get any of those guys to stay out any later...but I'm game to try!
Oh! We are supposed to also have some English visitors over for dance class...perhaps I should hog-tie them and bring them along???

If you have visitors (especially first timers) from England then you need to take them to the Gaylord anyway. It's a slice of Texas unto itself what with mission plaza (used to be Alamo plaza), the hill country atrium, and the riverwalk atrium all within an easy stroll. You'll just be 15 minutes away if you start in Grand Prairie. Go for it!

Some of us might be able to make it a bit after 10:00. Our SCD Burns Night (and as RR said, it's open to anyone who wants to come!) is supposed to run until about 10:00, so we could meet you a bit afterward.
I don't know the Gaylord . . . will we be able to find one another at the Texan station?
What about parking? The one time I was there, parking was sort of expensive . . . are there tricks around that?

If I know you are coming I will be there. The Texan Station is big, but I think the kilted will be able to find one another (we're an exceptionally clever lot, after all). As for parking, I may be able to come up with some parking passes. I can't guarantee that, but I'll do my best.

The Gaylord Texan is a huge resort just north of DFW airport near the Grapevine Mills mall. It's all enclosed inside a big atrium and has lots of Texas style stuff to look at like a replica of a Spanish mission and an life size oil derrick. There are also four restaurants on site. I will be doing a dinner theater show in one of those eateries, called the Riverwalk Cafe. It's a fun show and I play a Scottish major who served the confederacy during the civil war. Naturally, I'm kilted.
The Gaylord also has a sports bar called the Texan Station. My show lets out about 10. It would be great to have some X-Markers show up kilted and come to the show, but since that is a bit of an expense I thought we might get a group together to meet up at the Texan Station. You can certainly come before ten and I'll join you when I can. Several have mentioned that they already have Burns celebrations earlier that night, so I thought some might like to come when they get out and have a gathering after ten. As I say, the Gaylord is a fun place to visit anyway and I'll see if I can secure some parking passes for anyone who wants to come out.
