Thumbs up My first Burns Night

    Hi All,
I went to my first Burns Night at the English Pub in Naples, Florida. It was lots of fun! I did not think of bringing my camera, stupid me. Three kilties in a crowd of 75. But I think there will be more next year based on the response of my formal dress. The Haggis was piped in and was truly
outstanding! Another first for me, I did not know what to
expect. The Scottish Emcee gave me props for my attire, so I guess I looked ok. Definitely drank way too much and paid for it on Sunday! A local lifestyle
magazine was there, so maybe the pics they took of us will be published. If you get a chance to attend one, do so. I will go back there soon, a fun crowd in the bar including some cool Rugby players rounded out a great evening.

Your first Burns Night can be fun, and your second, and on... as you learn the significance of the different traditional things, you will appreciate them more.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it Tim!

Sounds funny being held in an English pub!

Hope there are some pictures of the event around that we will get to see soon!

I've gone to 5 in as many consecutive years. I've never tired of it and go with or without a date. But, of course, it is more fun with a date, especially if she does not know what to expect and she is pleasantly surprised at the mock pomp and fun ceremony.

I plan to attend many more and hopefully someday at Ferintosh!!!!! Yes Trefor anywhere here it seems that if you are a descendant of the Northern Isles you are most welcome. I hope some of the photos will surface. Next year there will be more kilted as they asked for some of my resources.
