Hello from Virginia
Hello all,
Purchased my first kilt last October, so I'm still learning. Wore it to work today, which always seems to make the other guys a bit jealous. Men in kilts get attention from the ladies, it seems.
I have questions about doing things correctly, or at least not so bad that I end up embarrassing myself. Look forward to finding out some answers and picking up some tips.
In advance of all the good information, I raise a glass to y'all.

Forgot to mention, if you can point me in the direction of the threads that help out on these points, I would be very grateful:
* What shoes to wear
* How should the kilt fit about the waist - I think mine might be a little big.
* Hose colors
* Belts
Really just about everything. I apologize, but this is such an active community it's a bit overwhelming to know where to start looking.

from Boston, Massachusetts.
Check left side box for forums (click) then kilt advise (click) and have a some real fun.
Start with: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/k...155/index.html
and enjoy. Congratulations on the kilt, Post some pictures when you can. If you read many of the threads with pictures, you will see how most of us wear them. Pleats in the back, hem between the center and top of the knee, a kilt pin to keep the question unanswered. Welcome to the rabble. ENJOY.

To narrow it down a bit: while in the Kilt Advice forum, look for Search this forum at the right-hand side of the second blue bar. Click there, select Advanced Search. Note that the forum is already highlighted in the pane marked Search in forum(s).
Now plug one of your keywords (say, belt) under Search by Key Word (at top left). Make sure just under that entry that it's set "Search titles only," down at the bottom "Show Results as" is checked for Threads. Click Search now, and you should get a list of all threads with the word belt in the title.
Repeat for hose, shoes; repeat for other applicable forums, such as Kilt Accessories; and enjoy!

P.S. You will soon be welcomed by many fellow kilties in Virginia. I believe they are planning a kilt night soon. Again "forums" "kilt nights" --- these are fun a get together, usually at a restaurant, that has the rest of the restaurant clients eying the mass of kilts.

Where in VA? I am in norfolk, and hve been looking for a kilt night out. I won't be around for the next month 'cause my uncle (Sam) says I need to go to antarticia. Oh well it will be fun, I am going to be the first in history (unless someone can prove me wrong) to do a TRUE Polar Plunge while kilted.
Oh yea welcome aboard.

Welcome to the rabble!
Its my opinion that 90% of men not in kilts are envious of those who are.
I know I am when I'm not in a kilt (nearly all of the time) and (this may sound arrogant) I feel superior when I AM wearing one!

Welcome to Xmarks, from rural Amelia County. If you are near Richmond, there is a tentative kilt night planned for March 1st when Jay is home for leave.
