Burn's Night plans
Well, the Haggis has been been received from the local butchers, the turnips and potatoes are all set to be come neeps and tatties, the cock-a-leekie soup is all set, the new Barleyjuice album has been downloaded (and paid for!),the whisky is ample, and the beer is chilling.
All that's left to do is pick out which kilt to hear and to set up the pub tomorrow for a Burns night at my place for a few close friends.
I have been to the banquet suppers and to the small intimate gatherings and have decided, that in the spirit of Burns, to host a small gathering of close friends and neighbors to enjoy the evening.
We are replacing the Rampant Lion flag with the Australia flag (which will hang beside the St. Andre's flag and the Canadian Red Ensign flag) for the night as some of the guests are Aussies and we wanted to tie in the Australia Day activities on the 26th.
So what are your plans to celebrate Scotland's favourite bard?

Well, I had intended to put on the kilt and wear that nice Navy Blue Argyll Jacket )that I haven't had a good excuse to use yet) and go to the Duke of Perth for a snack and then go downtown to meet up with my mom and her buddies for drinks at Peterino's...
...however...
...it looks like I will, instead, be sticking around here and going over to my buddy's music store to see Larry Coryell performing with the Indian musicians that he's currently touring with.
Kilt will be worn and whisky will fer sure be consumed...at least by me.
Haggis will be notably absent but c'est le vie...maybe I can rustle up some White Castles.
Appropriately enough: The best laid schemes o' mice an' men Gang aft agley.
Best

Burns Night
I'm off to Eureka Springs, Arkansas this Saturday for a Burns Night at the historic (and haunted) Crescent Hotel, built in 1886 by Irish stonemasons. The Scottish folksinger and folklorist Ed Miller is the featured entertainer for the evening:

Saturday the Nor Cal Rabble will hold their 2nd annual Burns' Night Supper in (the appropriately named) city of Scotts Valley. About 65 people ranging from wee bairns to seasoned seniors will gather to eat, drink, dance, and celebrate the memory and works of Robert Burns. We will try our best to post a picture or two
Cheers
Jamie

Reason: McMurdos...why does it always have to be McMurdos...

Glen,
Since you are the Burns' Night expert I have a question. Do you sacrifice the rubber chicken before or after The Immortal Memory?
Cheers

I am far from an expert, however I believe that if the Rubber Chicken, is to make an appearance then I shall cut it up wi' ready sleight,
Trenching it's gushing entrails bright, as soon as possible perhaps after the Address To A Haggis, we could have the Address To A Rubber Chicken
with apologies to Robert Burns

I have twa delighful parodies of the Address:
Address to a Cornbread for those frae the Ozarks
Address to a Sausage from the St. Andrew's Society of Queensland, Australia.
