Trying to design a tartan for my Alma matter Boston University
A casual day at the Manhattan Kansas public library looking for a book I recently returned.

I was wearing my economy SWK Royal Stewart very old army boots, red soccer/ football socks, Scottish National Pub Crawling Team t-shirt, canvas sporran. I love that sporran, even though it is not made to be a sporran, it holds so much and is much more comfortable than the cheap leather one I have and w/o the chain, it is so easy to wear.
I ended up getting a book titled Tartans Their Art and History by Ann Sutton & Richard Carr. I am trying to design a tartan for my Alma matter Boston University. The two main colors for BU are Maroon and White, and possibly gold.
Any Boston University Alumni out there that want to help me design this tartan are more than welcome to send me their thoughts or suggestions.
Oh, and I was complimented twice and photographed once tonight.
Cheers
Chris

I get tons of compliments at the library while Kilted. I can see why after seeing you. Good luck in the design.

Sounds like a splendid and rather typical day in the kilt trenches.
I'll never get used to people asking me for photos. A glimpse into the life of the rich and famous I guess. I can almost see how that reality would be intoxicating.

Good luck indeed - is this an official commission?

I myself am a BU alum...graduated in 1988. I would love to help with this project.
Don't forget grey in the mix. So, with white, grey, and scarlet, that is 3 colors. I have been away from the school for a while. Any other colors that you think are significant?

The warp stripping and the weft striping pattern
Keith,
I cannot think of any other colors that would have any significance, so scarlet, white, grey, and either gold or yellow should make a nice tartan. I could add green or dark blue to represent the Charles River, and then there are all the trees that one sees in various states throughout the year.
Now just have to decide on the warp stripping and the weft striping pattern.

Chris - To represent the Charles that I remember, you would need to add BROWN!
Sounds like a reasonable list...Anything I can help with let me know.
