Chalk Up One For The Kilted Therapist
So today I got a new client. A young adult lady with dyed two tone red and black hair and a lip ring piercing. Seems quite intelligent.
When I first met her she said something to the effect of "Good, I was hoping I'd get the kilted therapist." Apparently she'd seen me in the building previously when she was going through the intake and assessment process.
And, you can bet I passed the comment on to management...an offset to the few previous clients that didn't like me to be kilted.
A good day for sure.

While it's always nice to get a good comment - it's sad to say that one negative can knock out twenty positives.

Well that's good, Ron, and hope you are able to help the young lady find solutions to her issues.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Right on. It is always kinda fun to be recognized at "That guy that wears the kilt..."

I know. Around campus I'm know as "The Kilt Guy." Gets a little irritating after a while, if that's all you're know as.

My son has a friend with those attributes (except that she is not a client).
She’s currently in her third or fourth location after fleeing New Orleans during the hurricane.
Really nice girl.
I’m retired now but I spent over three decades in Human Services.
We always showed a liberal face to the public. “Public Service” after all.
Internally we were unfailingly and endlessly (and oh so tiresomely) bureaucratic and conservative.
