    Here We go

    Ok, Hello everyone!
I's quiet listener for some time, and finally decided to join.
Now something I'm trying to figure out without any success yet - is where the heck can I find Canadian tartans in 16oz p/v? Anyone?

By the way, if anybody wandering I'm kilted, full time(it's just makes me crying considering type-a-job I've got).

    Welcome aboard.

16 ounce PV is sort of a non-entity from what I understand. USA kilts and Canadian Casual Kilts use, I believe, the 11 oz. PV from Marton Mills and that fabric has been discussed extensively in the forum (it has received very positive reviews). Someone once mentioned that there was a weaver out in B.C. who was considering doing some runs of heavier weight PV but I haven't heard anything more than a rumor about that.

Some ebay dealers may list a 16 oz PV but might be mistaking acrylic for PV. True PV (poly-viscose) is a blend of polyester and rayon. Acrylic is acrylic and wool is wool. Thus, I'd proceed with caution if you see "16 oz PV".

Without exception, the kiltmakers whose names get kicked around on this forum are pretty good about talking to their clients so don't hesitate to contact one or a few of them and ask them what's available and what they recommend.

    Thank U guys.

I sent an Email to MM, but didn't get any reply yet.
And I've never dealt with 11oz fabric before( all my kilts 16oz), but I found a note on Man in kilt site that 11oz fabrics are not recommended for a kilt making.
And here We go, I (oh-h boy) targeted BC tartan(hard to find from the beginning, now in 16oz PV even harder) to not to buy, but to first-on -m-own- to-make kilt.
So if anybody have an experience with light weight fabrics or knows where I may get BC in 16oz(PV not wool, don't have 500 for this project) PLS let me know.

    Cheers.

Is there a reason you don't want a lighter weight wool? Personally I would check with Fraser and Kirkbright in Vancouver. They have a lightweight wool (in BC tartan) and do some PV. http://www.wooltartans.com/tartans4.htm

AA is correct. PV usually comes in lighter weights. Since it is unusual I doubt it would be much cheaper that 16 oz wool so may I ask why the interest in 16 oz PV?

    from South Wales UK!

PV tends to be lighter than woollen possibilities and in fact I don't personally know of any 16 oz non-wool, Canadian or otherwise, that I could recommend from experience.
