    The IRISH pipe band

Since the photo-sharing forum was closed, I guess I'll put these here instead:

    Hangin' around before the parade

    Snares warming up

At the pub, after the parade (Not our best playing...we were all a bit tipsy...)

And some older photos I found (wearing our summer uniforms):

Here I am playing my small pipes (out of uniform)

The color guard doing its thing

    Our beautiful Kelly green kilts

This is only half of the band!

    Playing in formation

We're really just a drinking band with a piping problem

    This really says it all

...And a great time was had by all.

Really looks like you all enjoyed yourself. And I quite like the green kilts.

    Thanks for posting these, Greg.

...I used to play in a band which had a terrible piping problem too,...as for the drink?..no problem at all.
    Instead of .."BAND!!!!..fALL IN"
It was normally.."BAND!!!!!!!!..Who's round is it"?
I don't know if it's quite unique to the Irish bands though,...as i know quite a few Scottish bands who had the same problem.

Do any of your members play the Irish pipes with two drones?

    Great stuff,
    Neil.

No, we play all sorts of tunes, but most are Irish tunes adapted for the pipes.

No, we play 3-drone pipes, simply because it's easier that way. Many of us already had a set of pipes or play in other bands, so we play the GHB. Plus, all of those extra keys would confuse us!

The funnniest thing I've noticed; I can watch and really enjoy the pipes at recitals, on stage etc. quite relaxed.
but, should they begin to "move", march through the crowds. piping in procession, then, automatically tears come to my eyes, a lump in the throat, my heart thumps, and the hairs stand up on my arms.
Even as a little boy I've been affected that way. Weird huh?
