    nice sporran belt 'alternative'

so I found some decent thin 'reversible' belts at walmart for pretty cheap, dark brown on one side, black on the other, that are actually quite nice as sporran straps, and you can match the color by flipping the buckle around. Inexpensive and effective, and saves money on buying 2 different colors.

That is a good idea. I was at Walmart looking for a brown belt for a sporran last night.

I actually just made my own strap out of a reign that I picked up at the local farm supply store... No, really! Worked great. I'll try to take some pictures of it soon.

Sure when I get home today I'll get a photo up. The biggest thing to watch out for is that the buckles on some of the reversable belts are large / ungainly, that and you need to make sure you get a belt that's too big for you, so that it fits over the kilt and odesnt have the sporran too high up.

I've seen those several times, but they are always way too short for a man of substance (read that as fat!) When it comes to the Hagrid sizes, belts are hard to find. I must say that I have three sporran belts that will fit any causal time, and a couple of sporran belts that work for just knock-around.

For anyone looking for a very usable sporran belt, I recommend SWK. For a step up, check out Steve at Oconee. One I find myself using a lot lately was kindly made by a member of this forum who did it just to be nice - You know who you are - and Thanks!!

Here's the strap I made with no leather working tools and about 10 minutes of time. There was plenty left over so I think even the Hagrid-sized guys would have plenty to work with...
