    New (antique) Kilt Pin

So I've been watching ebay for almost a year now trying to find a good condition victorian era grouse claw kilt pin for a reasonable price, and finally just yesterday managed to win one ! I very much dislike the modern ones being made with cheap glass stones and imitation silver mountings, but couldnt justify the 100$ or so that a nice condition antique tends to sell for. I think I lucked out on this one because no where in the description was Kilt ever mentioned, let alone kilt pin. It was just described as a grouse claw brooch, but it's a nice grouse claw kilt pin, with a tastefull tigerseye stone in the top and engraved silver. I just hope it's not too brittle, as some of these can get with a lot of age, to be worn, but that's a risk I was willing to take for 25 bucks =)

I'll get better pictures of it when it arrives at my place =)

The pin arrived today, and it's in great condition! I couldn't be happier. It's a very nice one, and doesn't have one of those gaudy cut glass 'gems' like many more recent ones have.

Hmm. . . I will say it is beautiful in its own. . .unique way. Its just not for me .Any idea why the wearing of a grouse claw became popular?
