Chief of Clan Jardine dies

Sir Alexander Maule Jardine of Applegirth, 12th Baronet, 23rd Chief of
the Clan Jardine, died at his home, 6 April, 2008. He was 60.

He was born 24 Aug 1947, son of Col Sir William Jardine of Applegirth,
11th Bt (1917-86), by his wife the former Anne Graham Maitland, scion
of that LG family, & was educated at Gordonstoun; served as a Member
of the Queen's Body Guard for Scotland (Royal Company of Archers);
married 1982, Mary Beatrice, scion of the Viscounts Cross, dau of the
Hon John Michael Inigo Cross, by whom he had issue. His elder son,
William Murray Jardine, yr of Applegirth, born 4 July 1984, now
succeeds to the baronetcy (NS 1672) and clan chieftainship.Funeral
Service to be held at Holy Trinity Church, Millom, on Tuesday 15
April.
