I need some prom help
So, I'm taking my girlfriend to her senior prom in a month or so. There is, however, a slight problem, with which a require some assistance.
The theme of the prom is "Arabian Nights." I do plan on wearing my kilt and Prince Charlie, but I am at a loss as for what to do regarding dressing up according to the theme, while not at the same time looking like a fool.
So far, my only idea is to wear a fez. My other idea was to get a scimitar, but there's a zero tolerance policy regarding weapons at school functions.
Any ideas?

Or
Say its a cover for Aladdins wonderful lamp.
Or
Your dressed as Sinbad the sailor who hailed from Giffnock.
Or
you're the 41st thief from Castlemilk

Kevin,
Find an appropriate kilt pin! Failing that perhaps a lapel pin. Make a subtle connection to the evening's theme.

I'm with Panache, here. There's not going to be any way to make a kilt and PC "mesh" with an Arabian Nights theme, so go for something subtle, like a kilt pin.
Actually, the fez seems to be a pretty good idea, IMHO.

Kevin,
A gentleman could get a long Arabian style robes in white or black with an appropriate matching headgear. Then he could make a grand entrance at the ball with his dazzling desert bloom at his side. Once there he would sweep off his robes to reveal the dashing highland attire beneath (or one's stylish tuxedo if a James Bond vibe is preferred).
This is what I would do.
It has a certain...
Cheers

Rather than a whole separate attire-or even a PC, I think that this is an occasion where just a ghillie shirt might work. It's neckline is similiar to that of the thobe worn by Arab men.
You could always wear a robe over the outfit for a real desert look!

Perhaps our historians on this site could help you with the story of how maybe...just maybe...Moors aboard the Spanish Armada were shipwrecked off Scotland and integrated into the culture giving the explaination for the dark Scots....
Or is that myth?
But even if myth you could tie it in with the prom theme.
