Britain in Colo[u]r
I'm usually not a fan of the Daily Mail, but this article was interesting. These are the first color photos of Britains, and they are very beautiful.

These aren't recolored or touched up, these are original color prints from 1913-1924

They have an appealing quality to them. I'm guessing they are autochromes, a kind of photography done with potato starch.

I see that the newspaper doesn't seem to have put my comment up on their site. I supose it would spoil the pink mist of the rest of them.
The photos are exquisite - but the stupid comments about turning back the clock....
I really can't get nostalgic about 'the good old days'. I find the past fascinating, but life was far harder and often much shorter in 1919.

These are beautiful pictures. I especially liked the two from Cornwall - the locals in front of the old ruined houses and the narrow cobbled street in St. Ives.
