Another Canadian Question
...so my daughter walked in with a contest that was in her monthly guitar magazine...it's a simple drawing: you send in your name and they pick a winner. HOWEVER...there is some kind of a qualifying thing that applies only to anyone living in Canada who is the person whose name is selected. Something about their having to also answer a quiz question based on their mathematical knowledge. What gives? Is there some kind of law in the Great White North that says that you can't just win a simple drawing or...
...is this yet another example of blatant persecution of the peace loving citizens of Canada by those jingoistic bullies South of their border?*

*All jokes (that is stuff that I'm only saying to be funny and in total jest) are now being written in red type...so do not, under any circumstances, think for a minnit that I'm being serious about this!

Yes it's the law we have to answer a skill testing question (mathmatical). It's extremely archaic but still on the books. They usually are overly simple in that you have to add, subtract, multiply and devide in the same question. To save time and brain cells they usually whisper the answer so that you can write it down. heaven forbid that I ever win millions in the lottery... "What's the square root of infinity?"

Heheheh!
I have that same fear, Grant. My math skills are beyond horrific. It's embarassing, but it's true.

The other big difference is that in Canada we don't get taxed on any lotto winnings. Personally I will answer the skill testing question for that break.
