    unusual tartan

The STA notes for the tartan say it was woven in 1984 as a special request from an American. Now it shows up on a (presumably) Scot in 2007! I wonder if he specifically requested the tartan, or just stumbled upon it? I do note the fellow next to him is also in the Graham of Mentieth tartan. Neat.

This is a music festival- it is NO like Burnin' Man...

this music fest is held oan the fairm where the original 1973 cult classic The Wicker Man wuz filmed... (see the film!)

loads o' current/pop/hip music, an acoustic village, several techno dance tents, pleant o' Celtic & Scots Music, a big beer tent... and a big man made o' wicker gets torched oan the Saturday nicht...

this is the largest Non-corporate music fest in the UK....

Looks better organized than Burning Man.
Besides a REALLY bad Nick Cage movie based on an earlier cult classic, the Wicker Man was used (hypothetically at least) by ancient Celts to sacrifice to the Gods. People - volunteers and criminals- were placed inside the structure and burnt. Author Morgan Llewellyn used one in her book, "Druids".

If I were to take part in a Wicker Man Burning, I think the sacrifice for the fire should be the Nic Cage version of the cult classic.
