Heat

Ok, So its like 92 deg and 85% humidity. how do you guys not sweat your butts off? I could literally wring a gallon of sweat out of my boxers which I don't like to wear when I kilt but if I didn't my kilt would be wet. how do you deal with heat in a kilt?

I switched from my UK to my SK. Still hot, but easier.

What I do in the heat and humidity is lose the hose and the belt.

hell It was 94 here in Florida today. I'm, with you I wear drawa's to keep my kilt dry. I think my Thrifty will be worn out come fall.

The belt really holds in the heat so yea I agree lose it, today we are having the same weather I am wearing one of my Matt Newsome 4 yard box pleats, that helps quite a bit.

The Houston Highland Games can be hot in May, but the Texas Scottish Festival is almost always so. In the outdoors, you don't over exert and keep in the shade. Even 16 oz wool is not uncomfortable to me.

There's a lot to be said for light weight "summer" kilts!

I understand that SWK sells them - but Jerry calls them "Thrifties."

If they get wet with sweat, you just throw them in the washer, and hang to dry!

The cotton Uitilikilts and their clones, I have been told, are cooler too!

UKs are better than wool (in regards to heat), but not terribly light. The twill is not the most breatheable.
My SK, with which I have been so displeased, will now be kept for hot weather.

I think tonight I'll don my Sportskilt Loch Ness, it's hot enough and no wind. The Kilt is exceptionally lightweight.

well I was wearing a SWK economy and I was just dieing. I was at a grad party with alot of people however. Even in air conditioning I was still warm. now I was doing a bit of blacksmithing in my utilikilt yesterday with temp in the upper 80s and humidity around 50% it wasn't bad unless I was near the forge.

I think what kills me most is the blasted humidity. I know when I was kilting in Mexico last year (and again this year) it was wonderful. it was 100+ with 0% humidity, and I was at a job site (church mission trip).

I was just wondering if you all had any ideas of keeping cooler, or not sweating your kilts out. I don't want people to be disgusted because I stand up and the chair has a pleated butt print of sweat...
