Shamed into Walking
Months ago I'd said I'd do the Diabetes UK walk at Herrington Country Park on my birthday (29th June).
I'd heard no more about it until a parcel arrived yesterday which contained this braw tee-shirt which is a super match for my Spirit of Scotland kilt.
In the meantime I had made other plans for that day, but since they have placed me in the first tranche of walkers in the morning and given me a tee-shirt I guess I better go along and take part. The walk goes past the Penshaw Monument, illustrated on the tee-shirt, and which was built in 1884 in honour of John George Lambton, first Earl of Durham and first Governor of Canada.

So - - - ???? Did you get a hair cut to reduce the weight that you have to carry on the walk?
Interesting new look there.
I know I don't need to say it, but don't forget your camera on the 29th...

Alex - almost did not recognize you with out the added facial hair. Are you following in Robertson's (P1M) footsteps?

Good for you. I've wanted to do a walk of some sort for a while but they never work with my schedule.
Now what's up with the glasses? Did the camera capture them midswing, or is that really a solid wire coming off the arms and going behind your head?

Having taken off the glasses and smiled for the camera for five failed attempts at this photo I put the glasses back on to see what I was doing wrong with the camera. Sixth attempt was a much better shot, but caught me scowling, and the glasses in mid swing as I had just removed them again.

Well its a bit warm for fur in summer. I may grow it back again in autumn.

I did the same thing. Shaved off the cheek warmers and just have a circle beard now.

Alex, good on you for doing the walk. I'm planning one or two for the end of summer, now that my leg is better.
And for the record, I'm with you on the less fur in summer thing. Here's my summer "facial do". No mutton chops til fall for me, if I grow them back at all.

Wow, Michael, that is a complete change of image, wouldn't have recognised you without the mutton chops.

I did a double take myself, Alex, when I saw your picture! A lady friend mentioned tonight that I was growing out the bits I've been shaving for years.
Back on topic, tho, my father was diabetic and I grew up watching him be affected daily by that. So a heartfelt Thank You.
and I do like the summer cut, my friend.
