Canmore Highland Games?

My clan is having their world gathering at the Canmore games this Labor Day weekend. Has anyone been there? Is it worth traveling to from Chicago? What's the scoop, if you know what I mean? Sounds like a very expensive trip. Any information would be appreciated.

Seriously, Glen...I can't speak for the games, but the area is simply stunning. I can't imagien the Games being anything but top notch.

Canmore is a spectacular location for the games. It is right at the edge of the Rocky Mountains and the scenery is incredible. The Calgary games are the previous day, 80 miles to the east. Many people hit both events.

It would be an expensive trip, but if you were able to make a vacation of it it would be well worth it.

I love going to both the Calgary and Canmore games and I would have to second what Mr. Kilt said.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it to one of them this year. My friends' wedding reception is on the Saturday, 3 hours away.

I heard the Chisholm were having a gathering here this year. Drop by our tent (St. Andrew-Caledonian Society of Calgary) if you decided to come.

I'll agree with Mr. Kilt and Rampant Lion, beautiful location, can't be beat.

Glen, if you made it to Canmore, sorry about the weather. It was a cold day and it had snowed overnight. A bit remained at 1 P.M. when the Chisholm Clan paraded onto the field for the opening ceremonies.

All events still proceeded though. The beer tent was popular because it was warm in there...
