    Shirts?

Happy 4th kilted crew! I'm sitting here at work (tech support for a cell company) phones are dead and I wanted to pop a few questions by. I'm just starting to wear kilts on a regular basis. I have a Sport kilt in the St. Patricks day tartan and a Still Water Black Watch and Weathered Mackenzie. I have a tendancy to wear t-shirts with the kilts and I'm looking for other ideas. I'm thinking a few casual button up shirts (like maybe the safari type with the roll up sleeves) would work well. I work in a casual environment so I'm looking for business casual. Just kind of shopping for ideas.

I like to wear the piper (safari) shirts. But an alternative is the "tech" shirt - drip-dry polyester shirts made by Ex-Officio, Ovis, REI, and Columbia. They are sold by Academy, REI, Ovis, and any other out-of-door clothing store.

I wear polo or golf shirts quite a bit with my kilts, it seems to work for me.

I wear any shirt that I would wear with Jeans or dress slacks. The kilt is a garment that is quite versatile.

I generally wear a polo, or button type sport shirt with the kilt. This is out and about business casual with me, along with decent hose, day sporran, and leave the sgian dubh at home.

I, like Glen, usually wear golf or polo shirts. But I have been seen in long and short sleeve casual shirts on occasion.

As Splash_4 stated, the kilt is quite versatile. One of the things I love about the kilt is it looks just as good with a dress shirt and tie as it does with a t-shirt.

    Welcome to the Rabble!

I'm also at work (Sr. Programmer/Analyst), on my lunch hour.

I agree with the comments already made, with the addition of recommending solid color shirts with tartan kilts, not patterned shirts. I wear kilts daily to work, which has a business casual dress code, that means guys have to wear a collared shirt (no tie, thankfully). For me that typically means one of the several cotton/hemp blend button-down casual shirts I got at REI or polo shirts, or if I'm wearing one of my solid colored UKs, a cotton button-down plaid shirt.

Here's wishing a Happy Independence Day to you, neighbor!

I typically wear t-shirts or fishing-type long sleeve sun shirts with my kilts (all UK's). Button-down short sleeve shirts can look good too. Pretty much anything you can wear with jeans will work, I think.

Total agreement here. The only place I draw the line, is I make sure the shirt doesn't clash with the kilt!

    Seconded. I do the same.
