    Humor in the newspaper

I saw this in the Aug 9 print edition of the Washington Post and had a really good laugh.

In the Style section, the second page called The Style Invitational "sought ideas for new religions" (in a contest).

Here's one of the (honorable mention) entries that you might relate to:

The Church of St. Andrew: Followers of a little-known Scottish monk who manifested stigmata in nine places on each hand; its members celebrate those 18 bloody holes by playing golf every Sunday morning. (Peter Metrinko, Chantilly, VA)

    For good measure
    Other honorable mentions :

Lowest Common Denominationalism: The religion that lets you get away with the most stuff without going to Hell. (Steve Fahey, Kensington, MD)

Salivationists: They not only speak in tongues, they speak in drool. (Marty McCullen, Gettysburg, PA)

there were dozens other that made me LOL.

    and the Winner:

Church of the Guiding Light: Adherents believe that no one truly dies; those who expire will become renewed as their evil twins -- after a season or two. (Lawrence McGuire, Waldorf, MD)

Especially the one about the 18 bloody holes! You have no idea of how close to reality that is in this area. (The golf mecca of Pinehurst is less than an hour away)

And don't forget the Frisbeeterians.........they don't go to heaven, they just get stuck on the roof.
