    Inspired by Prince Charles

I have long been a fan of His Royal Highness The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay because of his personality, manner and style. A while ago I saw a picture of him when he was younger and just thought the outfit he had put together was great. So I went out and got a jumper(sweater) in the same style. But I was still overweight at the time so I got one a LOT smaller than I could wear.
Well, since ALL my Kilts fit me again I decided to try it on. It fit really well even though I still have a bit more weight to lose.

To top it off, I was about to alter a waistcoat when Sheep In Wolf's Clothing reminded me of a style of waistcoat The Prince often wears.
Looking at a few pictures to refresh my memory I went ahead and altered it so that it was a mix of two styles of waistcoat he looked very smart it.

Here are the originals and the results.

The waistcoats as they looked on him:

And here am I with my half and half cut:

Here he is with the lovely v-neck:

    And on me:

I'm very happy with the results and already planning a few new outfits to go with a certain Kilt I recently ordered...

Now, if only I had an excuse to copy this outfit:

Very nice Arlen! It was the second picture of the waistcoat I was thinking of, their engagement picture I believe. Both outfits look great!
    Wear in good health,

Lookin sharp man. Better to emulate that Prince than the "artist" Prince.

You look absolutely smashing Arlen congratulations on the weight loss, I must say that taking a style que from His Royal Highness, Prince Charles is a good idea he certainly knows how to wear the kilt with style, the other Royal that comes to mind when thinking kilted style would be the Duke of Windsor

Thanks for all the compliments. I thought the outfits were pretty classy and I like how they look on my build.
I agree that the Duke of Windsor also had some very nice Kilted outfits. Both men who can inspire a Kiltie almost as much as Hamish.

Well done, lad. It's not easy to lose weight and you did a wonderful job on the outfits.

Now Arlen, that really IS a compliment - thank you.

Having met PC several times (I used to supply his after-shaves and toiletries!), I am afraid I cannot agree with everything you say about him, however I agree he does dress well when kilted. Of course, he does have a small team of valets and dressers close by at all times, even when on holiday, who are experts in all aspects of clothing, uniforms, etc., etc. and so he is advised rather than having to decide for himself what to wear.

Although I do have a couple of them, I am not overly fond of waistcoats - especially on me! However, I have been a fan of the V-neck sweater for as long as I can remember, and have had several stored away 'for a rainy day'! You have now reminded me of how good they work casually with the kilt, and so I shall soon bring them out of the mothballs in readiness for Autumn wear.

I guess the DoW had staff similar to PC especially in his younger years but whether he did or not, he was always extremely well turned out.

I'm not sure Prince Charles is someone I would choose as a role model. Here is a cartoon in today's paper (he is famous for talking to plants)
