My wife is not on board with the whole kilt thing.
I recently recieved a kilt from my daughter for father's day. It's a Stillwater Thrifty Kilt in USMC Leatherneck Tartan. I wish to start wearing out and about on ocassion, but she has put he foot down every time...refusing to go with me. I have even taken an informal survey of neighbors, friends and clients, who all agree that it's really no biggie if I showed up in a kilt. I don't really care one way or the other. With me it's what you see, is what you get. I regularly wear button through suspenders workshirts and eight panel (newsboy caps) so I generally look alot different than any of my kids parents on meet the teacher night at school. I have even had some kickers made up by my seamstress.
Problem is my dewey eyed bride will not entertain the notion that anything but trousers should be worn by men. Anything resembling a skirt is reserved for women. No amount of education by my part has yet to change her mind.

Tell her if she lets you wear the kilt you'll buy her a ridiculous pair of shoes.
P.S. She's nuts! ;)

First, I would gently educate her about what a kilt is and for whom it was originally intended (men). Secondly, I would ask her if she loves you enough to allow you to wear what you want to wear.
In all fairness, if she is going to dictate what you wear, then you should be allowed to dictate that she wears something that weighs a ton, is uncomfortable, and only the hands and face are seen.

Tell her there are any number of ladies on this board who would like to see you in a kilt.
Well, maybe that's not the way to phrase it
How about "who love to see their own men in a kilt." Yeah, that's the ticket!
Maybe a perusal of the "casual dress" pictures thead would help her realize that real men wear kilts?
Good luck with this!

Could there be something to that? Some people aren't comfortable with their mates getting a lot of attention. Just a thought...

Hmm. Or that could make it worse. The trick is to figure out WHY she doesn't want him to wear it.

Could you wear it around the house when it's just the two of you? If so, do that until it becomes more comfortable. Then maybe one of your buddies could drop by (nudge nudge wink wink) and say "hey that looks great".

Is she wearing the Pants? Take her to a Celtic function for fun to see who wears the Kilt
If you want to be mean and I don't suggest this but you could just leave her home and let her stew. /not a good idea.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
