    Plant Badge Help

The plant badge for Clan Barclay is listed as mayflower. In the world of botany, this seems to be a generic name. Are any of our British members familiar with a plant by this name? I've also seen hawthorn referred to as mayflower. Any help would be appreciated.

The hawthorn tree, flower, is the only plant(flower) that I know of as "may", it usually flowers in early to mid-June!

This is the photo our clan uses in it's literature. Does it look familiar to anyone? Thanks to those who have responded so far. Here in the US, the mayflower is a ground cover type plant, that grows in forrested areas. But it is only found in the Eastern side of the US and Canada.

    Epigaea repens= trailing arbutus

If the Clan flower is May flower, and it's from Scotland, then it would be the hawthorn most certainly, of course there's no reason why another flower couldn't be chosen in a different county if the original didn't exist.

Nearly all the wild hawtorn trees here in the UK have white blossom with the occasional pinkish blossomed tree.
