After a proper drenching at Chicago Celtic Fest yesterday, i was wishing that somebody was selling these:

...I now think that I'll seriously invest in one.

I would say an Inverness is your best bet, I've heard nothing but good about the Mr. Anthony Inverness Cape, I know many vendors carry them, the other option would be the Empire Canvas Works Storm Cape that you can get through the Scotish Tartan Museum

    EDIT:
Here is my Inverness Cape, made by our own vmac3205

It has not seen a real downpour as yet, but has held up wonderfully in the rain we've had since it's arrival, perhaps you could get in touch with her about one for yourself.

I have an unusal Inverness Cape that was made using the pattern to the Empire Canvas Works Storm Cape, but of a lighter, more traditional looking material.

    I absolutely love it.

If you are looking for something truly bullet proof and weather resistant, walkerk (one of the Nor Cal Rabble) has an Empire Canvas Works Storm Cape and it is a really well built garment for serious weather.

    Cheers

I'm in Vancouver right now. Great weather we are having in the Pacific Northwest right now, isn't it? So you must be preparing for our usual fall. Check http://www.misterantony.com/#ultimate. The least expensive the the only one you will need if you are infrequently out in the rain. You might try a local Highland dress supplier to compare prices, or Donald Gordon's Tartantown in Vancouver. Their standard cape is about CAD70. Add a good all-wool bonnet, wool hose and stout brogues with a "weather welt" and you will have it made.
