Fishnet Leggings with Kilts - Hopi Style

So, one of the traditions at the Freedom in Sobriety AA campout on the Hopi Reservation every year is that the kids dance traditional Hopi dances for us. A rare treat since cameras are allowed because the dances are social dances, not sacred dances. Yesterday they danced the Corn Dance for us.

But check out the two kilted boys in the dance line. They are wearing fishnet leggings with their Hopi "kilts."

So maybe you guys wearing leggings with your kilts (Graham??) might wanna consider the fishnet leggings option.

I'm sure there's a Traditional Hopi reason for wearing them - no clue what it is, but of course respect the look. Wonder if its something that would work with contemporary kilts...or (gasp!!) tartan kilts.....

The mind boggles at the possibilities....

I'm sure fishnet doesn't carry the same social astigmatisms in Hopi culture.

Since Hopi men do most of the weaving and knitting would guess they knit their leggings themselves.

You know, those look like really finely knitted leggings. Interesting patterns, and they look fine on the Hopi in their regalia. If I recall, the Greeks wear giant pompons on their shoes when they wear their fustanellas. I don't think that means giant pompons on ghillies is a good idea.

Now if it is true that they knit those leggings themselves, why don't you show them a pattern for kilt hose and connect them to one of our esteemed suppliers here at XMTS?

    Regards,
    Rex.
