Cincinnati goes dark
Remnants of hurricane Ike clashed with a cold front over Cincinnati yesterday causing sustained high winds. I read this morning there were a few people crushed by falling trees. Duke Energy says that at some point 90% of their customers here were without power, and it could be days or weeks before all service is restored.
I am still in the dark here after more than 16 hours. Last time I checked my downtown office still had power. I can keep my iPhone charged there and still get my daily XMTS fix.
Regards,
Rex.

I think that wind made it's way over to my place last night! The power went out at about 12:30 last night.
I hope you get you get your power back soon.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Looks like you're going to have to eat all the food in your refrigerator. At least that's what I did when I lost power for an extended period of time.

On a positive note: It's a rain storm, not an ice storm.

no, it was a wind storm. No rain involved. My car felt like it might tip over at points.

My family was very lucky. Our power was out at my house for about 8 hours or so. Did have a tree fall on our house while we were trying to get the kids to take a nap (they're 3 - son, and 19 months - daughter) but no excitement other than that. Getting it off the roof was a little tricky. Most important, everyone is okay.

Thirty two hours and counting. I'm starting to enjoy the candlelight. The contents of the refrigerator are history. One of the neighboring villages is not scheduled to get their power restored until Saturday, I heard tonight.
Regards,
Rex.
