Thinking of moving...need input!
So, here's the deal. I grew up on the west (left) coast. I have wandered about for the last 7 years in the rocky mountain region. My current job totally sucks, so I have begun looking for a new job. The type of job i do, and what satisfies me professionally is currently only available in a few places: Cape Girardeau, Missouri... Peabody, MA...annapolis, MD.....Bedford, NH.
Having never lived in any of these towns, or even on the east coast, what are thoughts from the rabble about these places? Seeing as I now have a 2 year old child and I am almost 38, I think this next move has to be the "perfect" job. Therefore, I need some input as to what some of these places are like; and could a westerner be happy in these locales....and MOST important: are they kilt-friendly?

Leaving Colorado? Of your own free will?!?! Are you daft?!?!
Just kidding. I never will if I have a choice, but that's just me. Good luck to you.

Well, when one receives two paychecks in a row that read $0.00....I would say that it's not really of my own free will, but there you have it. Making no money is no way for someone to live.

Yeah, I can't argue that.

Cape Girardeau is not a place I would class as kilt friendly, though I have never worn one there, ad do not live close. I have spent a goodly amount of time in the area though. I expect you'd be the only kiltie to be seen most of the time.

As a Maryland native living in Va at the present I can say Annapolis is pretty kilt friendly. Annapolis can be pretty pricy and it can get a little crowed during the summer months. But if you like the Bay, Crabs and water life Annapolis might work for you.

I’ve only been a visitor but Annapolis, MD seems pretty nice to me.
I live (always lived) an hour north of that in the Philadelphia, PA suburbs. Land of USAK and AK.
Close by (by western travel standards) to whatever events meet your interests from NYC to Richmond, VA.
And you can enjoy all four true seasons of the year.

Problem is, both West and East are ridiculously expensive to live.
Middle of the country has the lowest cost of living.
I live in the Eastern side of the US and i'm loving it here. Kentucky is Scots descendants heaven. Even if the locals have no clue that a kilt is a Scottish garment.
