D/FW Kilt Night
Been a long time since we've had a Dallas/Fort Worth Kilt Night......anyone feel like getting together in the near-ish future?

I've missed you guys and gals! I'll have to sit down with Christopher and figure out our schedule and see what days work best for us to get a chat started. I'll also do my usual sending out PM's to call the D/FW members here to get them to help decide on a location and time.
*crosses fingers* Here's hoping!! int:

Rowdy, I sent out PM's to let folks know what's going on. Hopefully we'll get some folks stopping by in the next few days to see if we can get some talk going and start planning!
*Note to those in the D/FW Texas area (and anyone close enough who would like to occasionally join us, of course)! If you haven't joined the D/FW Social Group yet, please do! It helps us remember who all is in the area, and it's also another place to gather and discuss things relating to kilt nights and events in our area!

I'm interested, though my schedule is packed full as always so my availability varies on a daily basis! I know this coming weekend and the weekend after I'm busy (going to Texas Ren Fest in Houston on weekend of the 15th) but I'm free after that I think? And then I'm busy again on the first 2 Saturdays of December.
I can probably go to mid-week events but it would likely have to be in the Mid-Cities area as I live in Euless now and work fairly late.

Mid-week in the mid-cities sounds good to me. Are there any good pubs in Arlington?

And keep in mind, we can always have two... a mid-week, Mid-cities if that works for a lot of folks and also a weekend (or whenever, I'm just throwing out examples) Dallas-area kilt night as well.
I'm sure some of us can do more than one, but I know one thing... I definitely would love to see kilt nights popping up more often. I know Christopher and I have been bad with being involved... summer electric bills and gas prices were killing us, so we were limited in what we could do. I'm hoping to get things rolling *fingers crossed* so we can get out more and have some fun!
And hey... if we CAN get enough of us together, it would be awesome to figure out something to do a little more often. Even if it's just once a month... a lot of the other groups are able to get those running and they look like so much fun.
Lots of options.
Anyway, as far as Arlington places... I don't know of "great" (my idea of great place might differ from others), but a few of us have been to the Plaza Pub (it's been quite some time since I've last been, though... I don't even know if they have a website yet or not)...
The last addy/phone number I have for them was (has anyone been recently to verify it's still open?):
Plaza Pub
1605 New York Ave
Arlington, TX 76010
(817) 460-7346
I have no idea what might be going on mid-week, or anything else. We might want to doublecheck. While it might be fun to have some music going on when we do plan a kilt night (anywhere), it would be nice to be able to hear each other and chat without having to yell over music. Just a thought... we'll see what comes up as we get more folks here to plan and offer ideas.
The only other place I know in Arlington isn't that great for a pub-like atmosphere except that I've been there for sessions.
Anyway, hope that helps Hallmarktex....
As far as the others, we'll see when more folks show up -- I know we have a lot of members on both sides of the metroplex (and some outside of the area, too).

Man, I need to get out to Dallas again. Had a great time the last time I was out there with the crew!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Hiya Splash!
I think the last time you were here (or was it the ONLY time you were here) was our first round-up, wasn't it? So you are back in the states? Yea for you!
Having lived in Bedford, I can recall there are not many venues of the Celtic kind...haven't been to the Plaza Pub, but that sounds as good as anything else.
I will give them a holler and see what they have going on...maybe given enough notice, they can advertise for us as well.

I know this probably won't pass for an "official" kilt night, but my wife and I are going to the Tap Inn in Grapevine Saturday evening to see a band we really like. We both have shows that evening so we won't get there until about 10 or so, but if any kilted types would care to join us you will be more than welcome!
