Is This a Tartan on This Tie?

Guess it is a tweed, never mind.

Thank you! That's great news! I don't have to worry about which tartan it is!

Now, if this is a tweed, could this tie be used with a tartan kilt and look all right?

    Ted, it's a beautiful tie! Very rich-looking.

I've been surprised at how many of the older (1940s and earlier) photos show folks dressed in, well I would almost say an embarrassment of patterns and textures, based on our modern tastes. You might find two or even three tartans plus a tweed and two different furs on the same fellow...but it works great! Gives the wearer a dash of...mm, dare a say..panache?

I think having enough variety made it clear the wearer had not simply erred in choosing his tie that morning, but that his was a confident, bold yet careless, style--a calculated clash as it were.

Now I am not sure what tartan is best suited for this tie but I am sure you will find the perfect one. Fitting for the Lord of East Mesa. Good find!

    Thanks Moosedog.

I don't... have to... wear it with a kilt.

It is wool and has that rough wool texture, though... I usually look through all the ties at the second hand store to find the ones that have some kind of texture.

Thank you, Carolina Kiltman. Just need to figure out which colors to wear it on. Maybe my navy blue suit with brown shoes.
