Alexandria scottish christmas walk 2008
This is my third consecutive year at the Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk. My friend Donald MacCallum had urged me a couple of years before to join the clan in participating. But our fellow Colmcille crewman’s invitation to his open house before the parade clinched my participation in 2006. David invites his clan the Donnachaidhs and would include us. Donald is no longer with us. David and I always reminisce on his affect on our lives.

It’s not hard to find David’s house in historic Olde Town Alexandria.

David and Rosa Lee are gracious hosts.

I kid you not but on the groaning board there is the best scotch eggs, I’ve ever tasted. Rosa Lee’s egg nog spoiled me this time as no other can compare.

I would find our convener, Doug MacCallum and would soon be joined by our President, Neil MacCallum. This photo answers the question about riding bikes while kilted.

Fellow XMarker, Sir William would find me. He showed me a pattern of Jacobite period coat; I’m considering having made of period tartan.

Neil’s son Sean joined us.

Before the parade, I did a quick excursion to take a few pix of groups gathering to begin the parade

Here we are with our bifurcated banner! The lovely lass, Jamlyn I borrowed from the photographer. Thank you Johnston(e) clan! The parade begins.

This was our forward view. I am not complaining as I learned 38 years ago the parade started as a Scottish dog parade! I am thankful that the canines have allowed us to participate.
A few photos along the way.

I'm curious as to why the patrolman smashed into the other car... was it you on a bike... in a kilt?! lol

Photos are awesome It as nice that the dogs let you in on their parade. I love the shelties, they are my families favorite. But I think the road kill picture was the best. Thanks for sharing

What a lovely lass, and I could see that it was a bit cold. How I remember those winter days in Virginia, my time spent at the Pentagon and Fort Myer was a wonderful part of my military career.
