    Prince Charlie alternatives

So we've all seen Prince Charlie jackets worn at formal events, but I'd like to discuss the alternatives: doublets.

    There's quite an assortment.

    The Sherrifmuir

    The Montrose

    The Regulation

    The Kenmore

    Discuss.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I tried to vote earlier and my head nearly exploded with all the choices for the doublets... aiieee!

It's all good, honestly. There are things about all of them that I like, but... I can't choose just one!

I love how the Montrose plays off the wide shoulders/chest and the waistline, but the details on the others with the tails (not sure what they're called, but you probably know what I mean) and cuffs are nice, too.

I do remember seeing doublets, with jabot and cuffs of course, but sadly, I don't remember them in fine detail. That being said, they all can be very striking in my opinion, so I do understand...

    Hi All,

RD for me. I think I have the only one in all of Northern Minnesota. The tashes keep my skinny butt warm.

My boy likes a PC with a plaid:

We see eye to eye on the fox sporran and waistcoats. We're hoping to find matching diced hose.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

    They're also known as "tashes".

Not to throw a monkey in the wrench or anything, it was twenty years ago when I could look that good in the above displayed jackets. That was back when I had a head of hair.

Seriously, I purchased a standard black wool dress coat for less formal situations. One could consider that option for matters less then state.

    Regards

Isn't it great to have such choices? I've always liked the Sherrifmuir, and I'm a big fan of Inverness flaps. That said, I personally get more use out of my PC than I would from a Sherrifmuir if I owned one. Still, maybe some day . . .
