    USAK in Ramsay blue...

My wife has been busy all day working on a deadline so I couldn't get her to take photos of me in the Ramsay. Here are some shots I took to show the tartan color:

The kilt is a 16oz USAK 5 Yarder. I don't have time for a full review right now, but I'll at least say Rocky and Kelly do excellent work! I am totally happy with everything about this kilt! I'll post some in action pics and a short review when my photographer becomes available.

    Looking good!
My first USAK was a Casual in IoS.
My second (pending) USAK is another Casual in Ramsay.
    Thanks for the pics.

    Hi GDub,

From the looks of the photo there is a selvedge? Previously USAK did not have selvedge on the Ramsay tartan, and so it was fringed at the bottom.

I'm looking to replace my USAK Ramsay semi-trad (now way too big for me), and if it's available with a selvedge I might buy a new one from USAK.

It's a 16oz 5-yarder, which would make it wool rather than pv.

Like chasem said, my Ramsay kilt is a 5 Yard 16oz woolie, not PV. And yes, there is a very clean selvedge. Also, I think there quite a difference between the wool and PV blues, and the blues in wool differ quite a bit between mills as well. In the wool samples I saw some are like a "French" blue and others are darker like a "Colonial" blue. Some also have a thicker, more pronounced white stripe. Mine is more like the Colonial blue witha thinner white stripe, though I think the "French" blue with the thicker stripe looks nice too.

Sorry, no more pics yet. I've had a busy weekend...

I really like Ramsay a lot. Ramsay is supposed to be my pipe band's uniform tartan, although it's not required due to the considerable financial considerations. As long as you have a presentable, proper kilt, you can play/march.

This is a kilt I never would've noticed had it not been for the band. Now that I have, I really want one.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

The Ramsay tartan is a fine, bold, beautiful and well met tartan....if I do say so myself.
