Steve and the XMTS Tartan Fabric

    Hey all,

Steve just posted about the XMTS fabric here:

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...889/index.html

I admire that he is willing to make good on his promises out of his own pocket, and I know how hard it can be to admit that one has messed up.

I happen to know that Steve has lost money on every one of the runs of fabric and pins he has done for XMTS. But he does it because he likes us (yes, he's crazy! ).

That fringed edge is the same one that a lot of Rocky's USA kilts come with.

So my kilts may have a fringed edge or I might have to hem that edge (hey it's an excuse to drink while sewing-always fun! )

    It's no biggie.

We are in for something like 10 or 12 yards of fabric of this run.

I am more than happy to take the fabric Steve received from Marton Mills

Fringed edge? Hmmmph! There are a lot more important things in this world to worry about! (Ye gads, I'm starting to sound like Alan!)

    We love ya Steve!

    Be well,

    Star

I'm with you on this all the way (also in for 10 yds). Feel safe in saying that we have all experienced at least one of those sinking "oh no freaking way. . ." moments when we realize what we have done, or failed to do effectively, and the rippling ramifications it will have on others. It's not a fun place to be, and Steve's post handles the situation as well as any response I've seen.

Here's hoping that all the purchasers see it the same way.

I haven't got the letter yet, but he says it can be hemmed...so yeah, no biggie. I'll take the fringed.

I will respond to Steve when he does send me his e-mail but I intend to accept his offer of a reduced price and waiving the handling fee.

I will also however accept his offer of blind hemming the fabric. Saves me a pile of work...

I think Steve's an upstanding businessman and XMTS member. For those reasons I will not subject him to having my order re-woven at his expense. If the mistake had been with MM, I would have insisted they make good but not when I have to rob Peter to pay Paul, so to speak.

Steve, if you've got a machine that will do blind hemming, then cool....hem up my three yards. However, not you, nor Bobbi, nor Erin or anybody else in your employ should hand blind-stitch my stuff.

If you don't have the abillity to do that really fast, by machine, then just send it to me with the fringe and hang the silly discount. It's still a great price, and I have no issues.
I've got a freaklot other more important things to stress about, than whether some material that I got for cheap, anyway, has a fringed selvedge or not.

...and YOU, are a good man. Carry on, and stress not overmuch.

Me'n Star are gonna get together, drink a lot of beer and wine, and hem polyester viscose. In no time at all, we'll be indistinguishable.

Well....except that I'm rather taller than she is.

    Amen,

I withdraw my request for the re-weaving.....and look here...a blindstitch machine!

Haven't received the email yet, but good heavens, don't beat yourself up over it. As said above, if you've got a machine that can do a fast hem without wasting a lot of time, I'd appreciate that, as I've neither machine, nor much skill at all in sewing anything beyond simple repairs. But by all means, keep what I paid while you're at it, dont refund a single penny. Consider the difference to help cover your time if you need to run my few yards through a machine for a hem or whatnot. These are hard enough economic times as it is, the last thing anyone needs is a whole bunch more stress.

    Thumbs up

I have not got the email yet, but the offer of hemming the edges sounds fine to me.
