Photobucket attacked??
Haven't had an answer to my last tech question yet and since that thread is private will ask here.
Was just on photobucket to attach some pics to a PM back to an X Marker and suddenly I got this horrendous warning message that my computer was infected with four worms....only the message was NOT from my anti-virus scanner...it was a well done fake with shield logo like some antivirus company and a phoney microsoft logo. It was not possible to close any of the attacking messages...they just cycled with horrendous warnings. Finally had to hard boot and shut everything down.
Fired up again and went back to finish the PM. All was well until I went back to photobucket to attach pics again and the same thing happened. This time I was able to close the initial phoney baloney message and get out of photobucket.
My own antivirus scans show me as clear with no problem. I'm guessing some looney without a real life has latched on to photobucket taking advantage of the current worm scare.
But dang, bottom line is my photobucket images are inaccessible until the offending trash is cleaned off of photobucket.
Anyone else have this happening yet?
If it does, close the very first screen that comes up. Or know that you'll have to hard boot to escape it.

Photo Bucket Warning
I've tried to use my Photo Bucket account several times today, and each time it's been hijacked to one of those sites trying to scan your hard drive and sell you some software to keep things like the hijacking program off.
I didn't stick around long enough to see what was happening, but I thought it wise to pass on what happened.
anyone else have something similar happen? It kicks me to another site when I try to open an album.
Better proceed with caution.

Me too. Think we posted about this insanity at the same time.

Thanks for the warning, my fingers were tempted to go check, but the wee man in the head says wait and let it pass.

Ditto
I just opened a thread about the same problem. (Two great minds on the same track? . . . naw.)
I would recommend exreme caution.

So I rescanned my rig for virus' again just in case the phoney virus messages had a virus. My rig is stil clean.
Anyone have a guess as to how long it will take the techies at photobucket to eliminate this mess? Should I wait an hour, a day, a week, before risking going there?
Thanks

I was on photobucket this a.m. via a Mac with no issues. However I read today of a viral attack on computers larger than any than has been seen since 2003. Sounds like a big problem, but not sure if it would manifest itself as you've described here. I rather thought it was sneakier than that.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.
