NEW KILT - Review - Puffer

I just received a NEW KILT from "Tartan Web." http://scottishkilts.net/products/st...ight_kilt.html NOTE I got it for a lo less during their last Sale. Here are my "Thoughts"

    Customer Service
    1 Very Good.
    2. Although slow in answering 1 email, they answered my ?? very well
    3. In addion to the kilt, they sent @ NO extra charge, "flashes" & a "plastic Kilt Hanger (these were not listed as 'part of the "deal"

    Shipping = Excellent
    1. They use a company called PARCELFORCE & it is the "best I have dealt with on items from the UK
    2. GREAT TRACKING info & FAST Delivery ( They sent it, from NY via USPS Express Mail.
    2. In a box & NO wrinkles

    The KILT

    1. Here it is, just as it came in the box

2.The "Tartan" = MacDonald of the Isles-Ancient Hunting

3."Jura Range weave, 16oz. ( note even though they say the "Jura Range are "courser' mine is NICE, NO whre near as "coarse as my WPG Gordan.

    4. 8 yard "knife" pleat.

    5. Sizing = Excellent ( I ordered to the 1/2" (waist, Breech & length) & that is the way it came. Fits, IMHO GREAT.

6.Workmanship Good. for the $$ & being Machine sewn. It would be "excellent" except for 1 thing. This The front apron is Great as to match, but the back is off.

    7. Conclusion = IMHO, for the $$$ & the fact that this is my "version of a "Day Kilt"= a GREAT KILT & yes I would buy from them again.

Me wearing it today for lunch @ the Kent WA Ram

That's a lovely tartan and a good-looking kilt. I'm puzzled by your expectation that the waistband would match along the back -- that's impossible, given the pleating. . . "pleat to sett" is a visual representation of the sett, not an exact dimensional match, so the waistband is not going to match (per an authority as august as Barb T's book). Matching along the front apron is the standard, from there it just goes where it wants to. . .

    Great pictures!

Oh, it's the waistband that doesn't match. I couldn't understand what you ment.

I wonder if a solid color waistband would be better in a sett pleating situation? Just in case I ever have to think about that.

    BTW, congratulations.

Well, Puffer, I'm just all mixed up too. My mind was thinking pleated to the stripe when it was pointed out and I even wrote pleated to the sett.

I think I just asumed that you would have gotten it pleated to the stripe!

Anyway, it is good to know these things now. Hope you enjoy your new kilt.
