    Unhappy Crash! Thud! Ow!

I'm in a wee bit o' pain tonight. It seems I got into a bit of a wreck on my way home from work tonight. I was riding my motorbike (scooter) through an intersection -- I was slowing down because the light was red, but when I saw it turn green, I started to speed up again, and as I entered the intersection about 2 sec. later, I T-boned some fool in a white sedan who was turning right, trying to beat the light (which he obviously didn't, considering my light was long since green)... I'm told that apparently he was in a hurry because he was late for work...

Anyhoo, the whole 9-yards ensued. Ambulance, police, my wife (driving the car on HER way home from work) saw an accident scene out her window when lo & behold she saw her husband -- me, sitting on the pavement. Poor woman must've been scared spitless. Then, my boss at the Board of Ed. came (because policy dictates that I call him in case of a car accident), the driver of the car who I hit and HIS boss too. Then, after a while his insurance agent arrived on the scene too.. Gentlemen, it was quite the spectacle.

The hospital released me right away -- X-rayed me all over and determined there were no fractures... Gave me a doggie bag containing a literal drugstore full of pain meds... (Which I haven't been taking.... I'm using my own pain medicine right now. Two pints o' beer and a triple scotch)... Don't worry bout me - I'm fine.

But let me tell y'all -- I am gonna be one SORE Xmarker tomorrow...

    Peace!

    Jim

If you aren't already, ice the contusions for the first 48 hours. It will help keep the swelling from getting too bad.

Good luck in the recover, glad to hear you weren't hurt.
Now you have to think up ways to embellish the story such that when telling it to your friends at the local pub, the car you hit was the size of a cement truck and just barely escaped with your life after the driver who was the size of a sumo wrestler came after you.

And if you can, put something in the story about how your lovely wife went samurai on the other driver and you had to hold her back.

By the way, were you kilted at the time? I hope not. It'd be a bummer to rip a perfectly good kilt.

I hope you have a speedy recovery, and enjoy the cartoons on your day off. int:

Jim, I'm glad you're okay and that you've kept your sense of humour. Your pain medication must be working. Take it easy over the next little while so your body can recover.
    All the best,

That sounds rough. I'm glad to hear that you've come out relatively well. Get some rest and hopefully you'll be up and jumping over the crosstown traffic in no time.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

I had a great uncle who died in a car accident, a mere 4 cars in traffic ahead of the rest of his family, they had left at the same time, but he was ahead of them, I understand they watched it happen. I was only 2 at the time, and in a different branch of the family.

Geez, that brings back painful memories. I got T-boned at a light as well....also on my bike...I didn't get sent home, though...instead, I got a helicopter ride to the hospital and a shiny new rod in my left leg...took me a couple weeks to get home.

As bad as it was, I'm SO glad yours turned out as well as it did...considering. Best Wishes, dude...believe me, I know the feeling.

Good thing it was not serious, I hope the scooter is OK but I'm sure the insurance will see to it. The main thing is that you are not seriously hurt. Bikes can be replaced trust me. Same thing happened to me a light, I was hit by a mini van, and to make a long story short yes I was sore the next day and yes that was the end of that bike.
