Kilted Encounter at the Home Show
My Lady and I went to the Home Show in Northern Virginia. I was wearing my khaki Flamingo Kilt, with a green cable knit sweater, green balmoral, and garters, with black hose, shoes, belt and sporran. I was finding it interesting that I was getting more comment from my USMC cap badge and belt buckle than the kilt. A lot of my brothers and sisters from the Corps were there, and one of the vendors even gave me a nice discount for being a Marine.
Any way, we were almost through the show when I hear "Now there's a lad who knows how to make a good turn out!" I turn, and there is one of the exhibitors, in a tartan kilt with matching necktie and flashes, very well turned out himself. The exhibit was of custom stained glass windows, doors, lamps and what-have-you, and the fellow in the kilt turns out to be GlassMan from XMarks! We had a nice chat. He said to tell you all he is fine, but he's been working too hard to post here lately. Given the state of the economy, I told him there are worse problems to have. BTW, when we were paying for a lamp Michele decided to buy, he totaled it up as follows: Let's see, regular price is x, it's on sale for y, will the show discount it's z, and $5 more off because you are in a kilt!
First time I've ever run into a fellow XMarkser by accident. It made a good day even better.

Congratulations, sounds like it was fun.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Sounds like a great day all around! I heard a lot of advertisements for the home show when I was out there this past Wed/Thurs. Sounded like a busy expo. Great to run into another kilted brethren while you were there.

I'm glad to hear that GlassMan is doing well - I've often though of him and wondered. Thanks for the report.
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

I, too, have wondered. Good to hear that he is doing well and just too busy to post here. I also like the way he priced that lamp.

Me too. I was wondering what he's been up to. I miss his posts.

Great story, Geoff! Another great example of how the positives of being kilted far outweigh the occasional knuckleheaded comment.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!
