Sneak Preview of new hand knit hose (and a rave review)

I thought some of you might be interested in getting a sneak preview at some new hose my wife is knitting for me. Beautiful shade of green with a nice cable pattern running down the front. The yarn is a wool/silk blend that just feels lovely.

There is a video on my blog with a rave review from our youngest son (holding the hose in the above screen cap).

Extra special. The color is fantastic too! Lucky guy. Now I need Carol to knit some for me......She has some bamboo yarn that is soft as can be, but is supposed to be tough too. We shall see.

Love the colour, they would match my new tweed from Rocky extremely well. What a wonderful wife to make such a gift for you.

Unfortunately matt, the review is biased. To get a true review, it must be an objective, third party examination of the product in question.

I will happily provide this service for you. Just have your wife make up a pair to my measurements and I will give my objective review.

Actually, I think a single outside viewpoint is far too small a sample. For a statistically significant result, she'll need at least a dozen or so responses, and, yes, I'll gladly volunteer to help fill out that quota.

Bamboo yarn??!! I'd never heard of this for a fabric. What is it like?

Think "rayon" (viscose) fiber. I'm not sure if it's a similar process, but it has a similar feel.

i have a few pairs of dress socks in bamboo. They've not had much wear, but I like them so far.

Bamboo fiber is supposed to have antibacterial properties, and it's touted as a "green" fiber. Whether its cultivation is sustainable, environmentally sound, etc is still under investigation as I understand it. Having been on the receiving end of a couple of bamboo infestations, I'm trying to keep an open mind.

For instance Paton's Silk Bamboo yarn.

Yep. Now, bamboo flooring is supposed to be one of the toughest. This yarn is 70% bamboo/30% silk, so.......look out! Need hose to go with my tartan.
