Even in Scotland

I've read on here like most people have done about other members experiances whilst out an about in public kilted and being asked why they're wearing a skirt etc, however I never thought I would have that problem here in the north east of scotland aberdeen and aberdeenshire to be exact, and I haven't well not to my face. However lastnight my flatmate told me that after our visit to my favorite fast food outlet (you know the one with the big yellow arches) last Thursday in which I think I looked fairly well put together in my SWK blackwatch thrifty and nightstalker sporran tshirt and trainers. Sorry back to point anyway my mate Garry was telling me that after our food scavaging trip on Thursday than when he got to work on Friday his bosses secratary took him into her office and asked him if he was gay. Aparantly even in Scotland two guys going out for tea and one of them being kilted means that they are gay. I couldn't help it when I was told I burst out laughin bit I thought I would post this on here as a note for everyone that even in Scotland the kilt isn't accepted as "normal"

Not it's not legal and the managment wernt botherd it was just she was out with her kids and saw us and so assumed that we were a couple simply beacuse I was kilted at the time

Honestly, I have a feeling it may have to do more with the choice of kilt than the kilt itself. I won't wear my thrifty out of the house, because it is so skirtlike. Same with my SportKilt. Just a thought... Wear a kilt that's more kilt looking and it may not be an issue. It's possible that the thrifty was honestly mistaken for a skirt.

Two things come to mind here, the first is people are always fascinated by the kilt, particularly when it is not a tartan and in Scotland you do not see many non tartan kilt wearers, the second point is that people are equally fascinated by other people's sexuality, this point always amazes me because I believe that the sexuality of the person is his/her own private business and it always should be. The question should be 'Is that person a decent human being or not?'
At times you wonder were people are coming from!

At a guess and it is only a guess, if your kilt did not look traditional,I know nothing about SWK traditional kilts, and you were wearing T shirt and trainers, so therefore did not look "traditional", then I am afraid to say, I am not surprised. Disappointed, but certainly not surprised at the reaction.
