    R-Kilt Children's sporran-Awesome is indeed the word!

Now my son the mighty Sinbad had two sporrans

The first was my crude DIY attempt at a Freelander style sporran

The next one was a simple thin black one I purchased that originally looked like this...

Which I then fixed it up to look like this

Neither of these were very functional both being too small, with too thin leather, and frankly not made very well

Now my son has some definite ideas about how he wears the kilt and he wanted a simple sporran that he could actually put things in and close.

So for his birthday I decided to get him a really nice bit of kit!

Looking for a new sporran for Sinbad I noticed that looking at most online shops and highland games vendors that there wasn't a lot of variety available for Children's kilt accessories. The quality these were never very high no matter where I searched.

I happened to be on Skype with Robert Pelle of R Kilts and mentioned how kid's sporrans seemed to be flimsy and not very well made.

He smiled and said with a wink "I know of that which you speak. That's why I make children's sporrans".

Now I have seen some of Robert's work and was instantly sold!

Robert produced a very simple and very handsome sporran which I was excited to give my son for his birthday last week.

    Here is Sinbad wearing it

In honor of Riverkilt here are the dimensions

    Top opening 4"
    Max width 5 1/3"
    Length 5 1/3"
    Expands to 1 3/4"

The black leather is thick and very nice (not quite as soft as Buzz Kidder sporran but nice to the touch). The snap is very securely set and the stiching small and neat. The matching sporran belt is equally well made.

I would definitely recommend Robert's work and to use his favorite descriptor let me say that Sinbad's new sporran is indeed "AWESOME!"

For those of you unfamiliar with Robert's work you should visit the R Kilts website

A big thank you to Robert ! Well done Sir!

To finish up Sinbad wanted to say this to Robert (take it away kiddo):

Thanks a lot for the sporran I really like it and i am glad that i have it

    Cheers :ootd:

Thankfully Robert has small delicate hands, that way Sinbad is able to own a piece of RKilt leather magic. Very lucky indeed. Now he needs an RKilt ranger belt.

That is a wonderful sporran good for Sinbad and a Happy belated birthday. Robert really is a great guy and those new sporrans of his look AWESOME indeed, I've seen them up close, they put me in mind of the very sought after McRostie of Glasgow sporrans, I'm sure Sinbad will wear it well and I'm sure it will become his favourite sporran.

I must confess to a large Jones on this one. I have been eagerly awaiting Sinbad's reaction to this present. I had shipped it out a couple of months ago only to find out that it was to be hidden ( perhaps guarded by some reptiles who knows) for that all important birthday.
    Congratulations young Sir.

Congratulations to Sinbad, not only for his birthday but for the outstanding accessory. His parents have such good taste.

Beautiful sporran and a great looking kilted kid. I guess pith-helmet-wearing is not a heritable trait in your family then, Jamie.
