    Kilted wedding guest

My son Michael was married on the 16th of May and one of his old school friends brought a kilted escort. They drove down from Scotland - a 9 hour trip - for the event.

A fine looking couple. I am glad they honoured Michael by being present at the wedding.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one who wears a tartan tie.

    Awesome.

Big guys always wear the tartan well, and she's clearly a bright young lady (and a cutie to boot!) who appreciates a well worn tartan.

Congrats to your son -- and to you on the addition of a daughter to your family!

What a well turned out gent! A suitable companion to the lovely lady he had the pleasure of escorting.

    Cheers

I seem to remember being told that the only tartan to be worn above the waist is either a waistcoat or a fly plaid, but I have to admit it looks good on him.

Also congratulations on obtaining a daughter-in-law. I have three, and as of the current moment, no sons-in-law, but my daughter seems to be working on that, however.

Also congratulations to the new couple, from a pair of 50+ year veterans.

Congratulations to the happy couple (and to the mother of the groom!). Lang may their lum reek!

Looks as though the young man pictured was wearing a Hunting Stewart tartan with a clan crest badge for a kilt pin. Smart looking outfit! (I know the tartan because I bought a Scout necker in that tartan when I was in the U.K. for the World Scout Jamboree a couple years back.) I wonder if there's a Scouting connection there somewhere.

    Attractive young lady as well.

Very kind and generous for the twa o' them to come all that way.

Thank you for all your kind comments.

Something strange has happened to my access to X marks, it finally dawned on me that I can go into 'new posts' to see them, but they are not turning up as normal - there must be a gremlin in the works.

It is indeed Hunting Stuart, and the outfit, other than the hose and shoes was inherited from an uncle, so it has some age to it. The kilt pin badge has a stag's head on it, I believe.

I think he was the only other person who was not cold - I felt rather sorry for the bride and her maids with bare shoulders in what was a rather brisk wind, but they were admirably stoic about it.

At least the forecast of thunder storms did not materialise, and we even had intermittent sunshine.

He looks good. Not as good as her, but good enough!
