Mint Hill, NC Games 05/22-05/23
Don't forget the Mint Hill games postponed from March are this weekend. So who is going?

I checked out their web site. 12 vendors, no mention of massed bands, two sessions of children's games, bonnie knees contest, Rathkeltair, Ed Miller, country dancers, and several other things. It sounds like a little games, but I'm discovering that smaller events can be more fun than larger events. We might get there. I'll be wearing my dandelion!

I was planning on being in Charlotte this weekend, anyway, so I might just make it too. I may be dressed like a girl, though - my kilts are still bearing the mud from this past weekend in Gatlinburg. Since the introduction of a healthy dose of Weed-B-Gone on my lawn, I shant be wearing a Dandelion.
Definitely be worth the ride to see Rathkeltair - it's always great to see them live. Neil is such a good show man.

And why is this a reason for not wearing your kilt? It ought to be dry by now. Just take a stiff brush and then a damp cloth. And no, I haven't cleaned mine yet. I've still got a week and a half before I need it again.
FREEDOM!!
Y'all have fun!

He could tell people that his kilt is woven in the "weathered" colors. Either that or it's the "mudded" tartan.

Are you coming to the Clover SC games? We're playing.

What's the date on it, Shawn? I'd love to see you guys (and your wives) again.
I need to schedule a trip up to Ashehole in the near future, maybe one coinciding with your next gig at Jack's is in order. Especially if Bill and Nelson and the other Asheville rabble (or Sett) are able to do a gathering ... that's the 26th of June?
:-)

A brave representative of XMTS has just returned from the Mint Hill games. There was one dandelion visible there, and it happened to be pinned to the newly-acquired size 8 1/2 bottle green Balmoral of your devoted correspondent. There was not one mention of our beloved community here, nor was there much else going on, save on the field of competition where the sheaf went over the bar once (that this reporter observed) and the caber turned a 10:00 once, as well. There was no tent full of X-Markers, as has been reported from previous Games, and, as a consequence, there was neither jollity nor great enjoyment of this small event.
That is not to say that the day was a complete washout. After departing the environs of the aforementioned Games, this reporter and his lovely young wife delighted in the beauty of the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in nearby Belmont, NC, toured the bucolic campus of Belmont Abbey College, and enjoyed dinner with some friends at P. F. Chang's Chinese restaurant in Huntersville, which is home to the Loch Norman Highland Games.
This is your roving reporter, signing off.

I cannot make it as I'll be out of town on business.
