    Casual Shirts- in or out

My husband has been wearing his new X kilt out a few times now. Most people haven't batted an eye at him. However I'm not not sure they knew it was a kilt because he wore a panel shirt which was untucked over it. You could barely see the pocket sporan.

When he wears his McDonald he will wear a t-shirt then put a panel shirt over it. you can see his belt and sporan that way. I think it looks tacky when he doesn't tuck the shirt in. What should I tell him to do with his panel shirts?

I would say 'in', but some of the guys that wear contemporary kilts more often might have more ideas.

I wear my shirt tucked in no matter what I wear unless it is just a t-shirt and shorts or really ragged jeans.

I know a few men with a "corporation" who hesitate to tuck due to their tummy.

I always wear my shirts tucked in. It just creates a neater cleaner look.

"In" allows the kilt to be seen as a kilt and I think it just looks better, whether it's a contemporary kilt or a traditional.

I will have to weigh in with a vote for in as well. Clean and neat whether kilted or not. Thanks.

I have to go and say a conditional "in". I wear both contemporary and traditional kilts, and it just seems to create a nicer, neater look. Although, I think panel/hawaiian/bowling shirts may be the exception and here's why. They are designed to be worn untucked. The line they create with the panels, designs, and the flat hem line are all designed to be worn out and seen. If it were a typical button up shirt, polo/knit, or t-shirt it ought to be tucked. I think bowling shirts are the exception.

Hawaiian shirts are the exception to the rule.
