    Muskets

    Hello!

I know some (few?) of the kilted on this Forum are reenactors. Is one of you in the posession of a (matchlock?) musket?

If so - could you take a number of pictures? (i'm especially interested in the pan and the front of the barrel).

    Thank you!

    Daniël

p.s. Had no idea where to post this so I ll just do it here.

I can get pictures of numerous guns, including mine and a few others. What kind are you looking for exactly? I may be able to find a matchlock, but i can get you all kinds of flintlocks and percussion rifles and smooth bores. Is there a specific time period you are looking for, and last, what region are you looking for?

Moved to Off Topic. As this request doesn't really have a lot to do with kilts it is the request of the Moderating Staff that those wishing to help Daniel with this send photos by PM.

I have lots of flintlocks but not a matchlock. However, I have friend that is repairing a Scottish swantail matchlock and I'll see if I can get some pictures of it for you if no one does before then. He works nights so it may be a few days before I can meet with him.

You might also check your local library and see what they have. There may be a general history on firearms that shows the lock.

I owned a matchlock for awhile, but the charm quickly wore off . Decent priced ones can be had from Albion Small Arms in England:
