    Help me re-press mee Kilt

OK so I'll fess up. I can be a bit of a chump...

Firstly I hope Barb T doesn't mind me linking to her photos to illustrate my point.

I recently came across her superb tutorial on how to apply basting stitches to a Kilt prior to pressing in order to avoid "the wave". The advice goes along the lines of 'spend a little time putting these stitches in BEFORE pressing your Kilt to avoid disapointment'. If you follow the advice given you'll end up with perfect pleats. (see below)

Well, unfortunately for me I'm an impulsive kind of guy, I'm also king of the shortcut and I'm completely INEPT at any form of needle-work. Consequently I have ignored the good advice and aquired the WAVE in my solid black PV.

    Not dissimilar to this:

The question is: How do I fix it and get it back to how it should be?

If any of the more knowledgeable members could take a little breather from laughing and offer advice, I would be eternally grateful.

    Yours humbly

You shouldn't consider basting as a real needle work. Follow the instruction in Barb's book and re-bast the pleats and then press....

I just took a bunch of basting out of my kilt that I had put in there. I don't know about the PV, but I have to measure the width of the showing part of the pleat at the bottom of the fell, then make sure the pleat is the same width at the bottom of the kilt. You don't have tartan lines to use on your kilt, so the best thing to do is...

Ask The Wizard of BC to explain what to do.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
