try The Caber Day with the Nor Cal Rabble
OK all!
Here are the photos that I took during the first 'Try The Caber' event, here in sunny Northern California. Rather than clog a server somewhere, I have hosted them on my website for my writings. Enjoy!

That's a practice/soccer/cricket field off Sand Hill Road, on the Stanford University campus, if I have my facts straight.
It was a lot of fun even if my bum back prevented me from participating.

Ray,
Thanks for posting the pictures
All I can say looking at the photos of my mini-skirted, bumblebee colored, Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess swinging away is...
...It is very good to be me!
Cheers

Cool pics, Ray!
Can't wait for the video. That is, as long as you've edited the sound. This is a family friendly site after all!
Be well,
Star

If I remember correctly, those fields are West of the hospital. There are several places on the campus that would make good venues for the games. I've always felt holding the games on the campus would add a bit of character to the festivities. Similar to the old Monterey games (back in the '70's) when they were held on the polo field of 17 Mile Drive, instead of the current location at the fairgrounds .

That is *exactly* where they are! There is now a big 800-car parking structure as well as a very large lot right next to those fields, and in fact they would make a *Perfect* venue for a Highland Games....if someone wanted to bite off a project that monstrous!
I grew up in Carmel, and I remember the Games being held out on the 17 Mile drive, as well. I suspect they got moved when the old Del Monte Company, which controlled a lot of the forest land out there, got sold to a much larger investor who shall remain nameless. I don't know that, but I suspect as much.

The "Hammer Away" photo on page 3 is a great motion shot. It looks like you all had a great time.
