Where would you recommend my first time kilted being?

Hey mates, I live in Summersville and 100% (literally, not just bs'ing) Irish. I'm trying to find a way to get my wife to go out in public with me. This thread is pertinent to my interests.

It maybe easier on wife if you were to go to a local Highland Games, that way she wont feel out of place with you being kilted.

As a musician, would it be possible to work the kilt into some of your performance work? She would really want to be along to protect you from all the lasses swooning over the red headed music man in the kilt.

    IMHO

Don't know how many X-markers are near you, but maybe a kilt night would do it.

Step1. "Honey, would you like to go shopping?" "Oh, I don't know. Where would YOU like to go?"

Step2. Pay for whatever honey has selected.

Step3. "Where would you like to go for dinner?"

Step4. Go for dinner and when people compliment you on your kilt you can say "See? There's nothing bad about wearing a kilt."

Step5. If this works, I accept cash, check, money orders, PayPal,..........

    Good Luck.

    I agree with McMurdo.

First, it'll be kilt friendly and second, you'll be one among many.

I also agree with the Highland Games or Celtic festival setting, but make it a day, or an overnight outing and take her out for dinner(still kilted) in the area of the games or festival. The next day, wear the kilt home.

Yes, I'd go with the Highland Games setting, too, if you have that option, and an overnight outing would be great. If you do that, try to include a stop that is focused on something she's particularly interested in as well.

My first day in kilt was a Highland Games.

On Saturday, I connected up with people associated with my clan, explained that I had the kilt, but none of the accessories or detail-oriented knowledge to complete it. They were very helpful, mindful of my budget, and walked me through several vendors. The result was a modest, but complete set. Sunday morning, I arrived in kilt. I was very comfortable, and my wife loved it.

Main Street....or the nearest Shopping Mall. Ask her to walk behind you about 20 paces and observe the reactions.
