Kilt Night - 7/25 - Grapevine, TX
On Saturday, July 25th, the TSF E-Group is organizing a Scottish Invasion of The Back Porch Grill and Tavern at 210 N. Main Street in Grapevine. It starts around 6:30 pm. There are several pubs/bars up and down Main Street that need to be exposed to the kilt! (You know what I mean.)

The British Emporium would probably be closed by then, I'm guessing... I've been wanting to drag a group of us in there sometime.
Not sure we'll be able to make this. I might keep an eye on it, but like I'd mentioned, Christopher and I are laying low for a while on events and outings. We'll have to see.
We have gone to the Tap Inn at least once kilted -- got quite a few weird stares from a few people (I honestly couldn't figure out what the general expressions and reactions were), and Christopher was asked the Question by one of the waiters. I don't know if they're used to seeing the kilt, but oh well... time to get them used to seeing it eh? Also, some of the pubs like the Tap Inn allow smoking (for those who avoid smokey situations or don't want to clean your kilt right before an outing to a smokey pub).
Best wishes!

How late do you think it'll go? I'm in Grapevine at the Gaylord Texan doing a show that night and won't get out until about 10. I'd be great if I can come late and find you all!

The TSF'ers (Texas Scottish Festival folks) tend to wrap it up around 10pm, but their Invasions are usually at restaurants. I've never been there, but my understanding is that The Back Porch is as much pub/bar as restaurant. That may change things. Ofcourse, if XMarkers show up in force, it could go all night! I definitely wouldn't mind a pub crawl down Main Street!

I may have to strap on my kilt and see who I can find!

I believe about 40 folks were there. About half were Gunns with the rest made up of McDonalds or what I'll term "independents." The food and drink was good. They had a live band going in the next room. I forgot my camera, so no pics from me! My wife and I bugged out early (around 10pm) because our lives are dictated by our son's weekend soccer schedule. That weekend included an 8am game on the far side of the Metroplex from where we live. If you know anything about the DFW area, you understand that could mean a 45 minute to 2 hour drive, based on traffic (where's my jetpack!).
