    Question Jacobite Jacket

    Hello All,

Recently, I was going through the thread showing wedding photos and I came across the photos of Pour1Malt's wedding. I really admire the jacket he has on. He told me that this style of jacket is called a Jacobite Jacket. I inquired where he purchased his and he said in a town called Annan in Scotland but he thinks they can be found on the internet for purchase as well. I found one for sale on ebay, I have included the link below so you can see the style of the jacket.

Does any one have any other suggestions of where I can find a jacket like this? I know gilmore has one that is blue for sale on ebay but I'm interested in finding one that is made of black wool. So if any one has any suggestions, I will be most grateful.

    Slainte!

    Shawn

Wolfstone Kilt Co. makes a jacket they call the Scottish Fighting Jacket that appears to be at least very similar. I don't have any personal experience with this vendor, but I've heard them mentioned here at X Marks a few times.

    Wary of Ebay

I am really so wary of buying things on ebay! I hate having to buy things without having my hands on em. How do you know what sellers to trust, and that they aren't selling you crap?

I've bought books and been lucky, but Hughland gear, I just dunno!

I want to thank everyone for your suggestions. There are several variations to this jacket and it would really be nice to have all the different styles that were suggested but alas I will have to wait to build on my wardrobe.
I too am very wary of buying something on ebay, especially if the seller is over seas. I've made purchases on ebay before using PayPal but I never have purchased from an international seller before. That is why I brought my quest for this jacket to the forum for help, and the X Marks family came through for me!
Our own Matt Newsome has the exact jacket I was looking for in the gift shop. It is the last one he has in stock and it is in the exact size and color I was looking for. Can you believe the luck of this? I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it. I have been in touch with Matt, and I should have my new jacket in no time. Matt is great to work with and he gave me a wonderful deal on the jacket. I plan on doing more business with him in the future and I highly recommend the Scottish Tartans Museum to others.
Thanks Matt for your help and consideration and to the rest of the X-Marks Rabble as well!

    Slainte!

    Question

Everyone shown reminds me of a swordsmen vest with sleeves. Is that what they are?

Is this the same jacket that is some times called the Chieftain ?

Yes, you have to be wary of buying things from eBay and from outside the US. Make sure you get a estimate of when they are shipping and pay extra for tracking. Once the item is shipped, make sure you get a tracking number from them. Check the tracking number and watch you package. If the buyer fails to provide you with a tracking number, then contact them again as you are paying for a tracking number to be used.
Some retailers can be very unbusinesslike and provide lots of excuses why something is not being deliveried.

Make sure to use Paypal or a credit card so you can dispute the purchase and get your money back. Once you get the item in, be sure to praise the retailer on here or provide any problems you might have had with them to assist in protecting others and your fellow forum users.

    Better safe then sorry!

I do use a credit card most of the time. I have had no problems with Paypal as of yet, but have heard horror stories about disputes.

I always check here before buying anything anywhere, and will always put in a good word, for those that do right.

So much of the stuff I have seen on Ebay looks like it is usually from one or two sellers trying to dump! I like the idea of buying from our sponsor sites or supporting the little guy as much as possible.

This stuff ain't cheap, but I know so many small vendors have such a small market. There probably isn't much of a profit margin.

    Sorry didn't mean to hijack!
